Gary, llamel is a Founder and Chairman of Strategos, a company dedicated to helping its clients develop revolutionary strategies. He is also Visiting Professor of Strategic and International Management at London Business School.
The Economist calls Hamel "the world's reigning strategy guru;' Peter Senge calls him "the mosl influential thinker on strategy in the West-ern world; As the author of a multitude of landmark business con-cepts, he has fundamentally changed the locus and content of strategy in many of the world's most successful companies. The Journal of Busi hess Strategy recently ranked Professor Harnel as one of the top 25 busi-ness minds of the twentieth century.
His previous book, Competing for the Future, has been hailed by The Economist, the Financial Times, the Washinqlon Posl, and many other jour-nals as one of the decade's most influential business books, and by Business Week as "Best Management Book of the Year ' With C. K. Praha- lad, Hamel has published seven articles in the Harvant Business Review,introducing such breakthrough concepts as strategic intent, core com-petence, corporate imagination, expeditionary marketing, and strategy as stretch. Hamel's more recent articles, "Strategy as Revolution" and "Bringing Silicon Valley Inside;' are already on their way to becoming management classics. His articles have also been published in Fortune, the Wall SIreel Journal, MIT's S10an Managemenl Review, and a myriad of other journals. Hamel serves on the board of the Strategic Manage-ment Society.
Hamel has led initiatiVCs within many o[ the world's leading com-panies. In his work he helps companies to first imagine and then create the new rules, new businesses, and new industries that will de-fine the industrial landscape of the tulure.
He resides in Woodside, California.
