另一种科学理论认为，高度敏感儿童的行为差异如此之大，可能是因为他们具有非常活跃的“行为抑制系统”（ Behavioral InhibitionSystem）。每个人都有这个系统，高度敏感者的系统更加活跃。这个系统和负责思考的右脑有关，因此右脑电流活动频繁和血流量较多的孩子可能具有高度敏感的特质。
